Montalto’s The Eleven chardonnay from the 2013 vintage is serious in intent, putting space between it and the simpler styles of this versatile grape.  This vintage sees complex aromatics of struck match, lees and yoghurt.  The palate is quite earthy, with reminders of bread and yoghurt, together with lemon and lime citrus characters with time in the glass.  Medium length, and acid noticeable, the 2013 vintage of The Eleven has a sculptured and textural mouthfeel, and is anything but simple.
