Chateau Moulinet-Lasserre Pomerol 2009

This is another outstanding Bordeaux from the 2009 vintage, this time a merlot from Chateau Moulinet-Lasserre in Pomerol.  Its aroma promises much.  Specifically, it reminds of earth, silky mulberry and dark plum and ground coffee.  The sort of aromatics that might set at ease the beating heart of a random but not inexpensive purchase.  And the palate delivers.  Perhaps even more so.  It has long length on the finish, very long in fact, and balanced flavours of mulberry, dark plum and cigar box.  This is an outstanding Pomerol wine that will reward your interest now or later.
Rating: Outstanding, Abv: 13.5%, Price: $60s, Vendors: http://www.wine-searcher.com, Website: n/a, Tasted: 2014

Well spotted. I see that VC's pricing and strategy of making the single bottle purchaser shake his or her head in disbelief is national 🙂

Vintage Cellars stock it in Adelaide- presumably likewise in other states. Anyway I took the plunge and bought a few in a 40% of sale- which really means 20% off given VC's normal mark ups.

I haven't tried the 2010 vintage as yet, though if I spot it I'll certainly try it based on the '09 here. Insert Gallic shrug re brett and Bordeaux, alas 🙂

The 2010 is available at the moment. Other reports (Huon Hooke) suggest a bit of Brett. Have you tried it?
