Saint Cosme Cotes du Rhone 2012

This is not bad for $18.  Unlike most Cote du Rhone wines which are usually grenache dominant, this CDR is made from 100% syrah.  Between purple and ruby in colour, it has aromatics of cut lavender bush, cooked strawberries and plums.  There is some length and hints of depth on the palate, with the lavender bush and plum characters carrying through.  There’s a bit of alcohol heat there too, but not enough to throw the wine off course.  A bbq wine.  Acceptable to Good
