Kilikanoon Covenant Shiraz 2010

Kilikanoon seem to fashion a fairly rich style of Clare Valley shiraz.  This particular shiraz from Kilikanoon (the “Covenant”) is a deep intensity purple in colour in the glass, with evident tears.  It has aromatics that remind of plums, pepper, spice and mulberry.  The wine is dry on the palate, with medium acid, tannins that are chalky in texture, a full body and flavours of dark plums, mulberry, licorice and chocolate.  The finish is medium to long.  The quality here is very good due to the fruit concentration, primary flavours of dark plums and pepper and the quite long finish.  This wine is ready to drink now, and is suitable for further ageing.  Very Good
