If you are looking to substitute Marlborough sauvignon blanc with a local version, the style of sauvignon blanc produced here by Angullong is fairly close to the mark. Bright in the glass, with a pale intensity lemon colour, the 2013 vintage opens to somewhat pungent aromatics of asparagus, gooseberry and grass. The palate is dry and the acid is about right (medium to high). There are balanced flavours of lemon, gooseberry and grass with a short to medium length finish. Overall, this is an acceptable to good offering due to its straightforward expression of primary sauvignon blanc fruit characters. Acceptable to Good
