Valdo Marca Oro Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore NV

To an extent, I am writing this review in the vain hope of remembering how to spell “Valdobbiadene” for an impending sparkling wine exam.  That’s Valdobbiadene … Who said Italian was just like French? (The latter I have something of a rudimentary knowledge of).  The Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG is thought to be a step-up from the more entry level Prosecco DOC (sans the “G”) wines.  Both regions, the former being smaller than the latter, are situated in north eastern Italy, inland to the north west of Venice.

This prosecco certainly fits the bill for a pleasant quaffing sparkling wine.  It has aromatics of apple, apple skin, lemon citrus, pear and minerals.  The palate is off-dry with a creamy mousse, light body, and similar apple flavours, perhaps a touch bruised.  Perfect for casual drinking.  Acceptable to Good
