This sauvignon blanc from Arrogant Frog is probably the best of their 2011 range that I tasted through. Lemon in colour, it is bright with a pale intensity of colour.  Aromatically, for those used to Marlborough style sauvignon blanc, this is a very restrained offering, with muted notes of stones, minerals, lemon citrus, earth, coriander seed and grass with time in the glass.  It smells more or less like a Loire Valley sauvignon blanc.

The palate is muted and seemingly lacking in acid zip.  Balanced herbs and lemon citrus flavours are dominant, with perhaps a touch of sherbet.  This medium bodied offering is a very balanced wine, but lacks a bit of sharpness and focus on the palate.  Stylistically, I would describe it as a warmer climate version of a Sancerre, and shows little resemblance to ubiquitous the New Zealand style.  Frankly, it drinks perfectly acceptably, and provides value at the price point.  Acceptable to Good
