The fruit for Penfolds’ RWT, a 100% shiraz, is sourced entirely from the Barossa Valley, and therefore eschews Penfolds’ usual multi-regional approach. The wine is also aged in French oak, rather than the American stuff. And yes, it’s very good, though I would have preferred to have been drinking this in 20 years time, rather than now. Which is currently not possible. Ripe plums, raw oak and spices waft from the glass. Then there’s sweet fruit with good length on the palate.
